徐冰跨文化的文字威力

如果要數我最喜愛的中國藝術家,徐冰一定是我的三甲之內。一直也很想仔細研究一下徐冰的文字創作,以下這篇文章就是兩年前讀 MA 時所寫的,以「跨文化」(Transculture)的角度,去分析徐冰先生的文字藝術。

徐冰曾經講過,他那一代的藝術家經歷了很多,「十年的社會主義教育,十年文化大革命,十年改革開放,十年在西方生活與參與當代藝術活動」。就是因為文化大革命,所有所謂的意識形態被徹底淘空改造,他才要逃離一切的智識,自困於小房間裡,不斷不斷雕刻沒有人看得懂的漢字,意在刪除腦中一切,把所有變回一片空白。藝術好像永遠離不開生活,而生活亦無法離得開政治。我再回想,我們八十後的這一代,沒有什麼政治取向,沒有經歷過戰亂痛苦,也沒有體驗真正生活的艱辛,是否就永遠沒辦法成長呢?而生於這個 Kidult 年代的我們,就沒法成就藝術英雄了嗎?

書就是… A Book is…


一片紙不但表現時間,也表現空間。而一片片的紙張組合起來的書就是一個高深的容器,盛滿文字,既能從中不斷汲取智慧,又能裝入無限的智慧。

A piece of paper reflects not only time but also space. Books are formed by binding papers together to become containers of words that serve as a reservoir as well as a spring of wisdom.
