水火不容

Fire & Water Book

Edmond Jabès: “The book is as old as fire and water”.

I title this experience logbook as the “Fire and Water” because I truly feel that my emotional feeling fluctuated in the second term. I’m sometimes on fire and sometimes feel extremely cool. My mind and my emotion cannot keep steady. I feel really stressful, contradicting, confused, problematic, and moody in these several months. Therefore, I used this concept of “fire & water” to make this book.

The approach of this experience logbook would be like a textual and visual diary. This half of the book would be called “water” book. Each page of this book is written a one-day diary. This is the continuity of the last experience logbook “Golden memory”. This part of the book contains mainly the text. Comparatively, the second half of this book is called “fire” book. A picture would be on each page, which echoes with the text on the exact page on “water” book. The “fire” book mainly contains visual images.

so the two have to go side by side the same time…
in fact i don’t really like the execution of them…um, how to say? i love the concept of using this two words but somehow the aesthetics didn’t go well with it. these two words were so affectionate but the book looks a bit too discreet due to its uniformity from page to page…

    haha!

i know what you mean. too conservative for you!

i try to use these two books to make a big contrast. the water one contains text and the fire one is full of images. one is well-bound and one is loose bound. i also have to concern the readibility and legibility of the text in the water book because they are my experience which i wanna tell. actually, although i distorted the text, they are surprisingly easy to read.

i agree that this book can be much more experimental.
but this is what i think of at that time and i just use several days to finish it.

the most important thing is that this book expresss my personal feeling at that time. i hope the negative thoughts really burns and my bad emotion really cools down after making this book.

u may feel better after you really hold them and feel them in your hands. you can manage to experience them. you may like the burned edges. and some of classmates like the smell of the book after burning,,,

ling! thank you! you are the one who always gives comments.

thanks to you too =) bringing so many good books to us~
actually i’m just a bit too talkative and too “honest” sometimes =)
but i got to admit that i enjoy sharing ideas a lot a lot a lot~ coz it’s the only time that you think your mind is working and to be a bit philosophical, feel your existence~ i love listening to others too. simply mingling each and everyone’s minds together…kekeee, out of context already~
anyway, take good care of our “mind” and “body” 🙂 see you soon~

書就是… A Book is…

一片紙不但表現時間,也表現空間。而一片片的紙張組合起來的書就是一個高深的容器,盛滿文字,既能從中不斷汲取智慧,又能裝入無限的智慧。

A piece of paper reflects not only time but also space. Books are formed by binding papers together to become containers of words that serve as a reservoir as well as a spring of wisdom.
